In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen

Yesterday was World Day of the Poor. Pope Leo wants Christian communities around the world to become even more aware of the importance of helping others who are most in need…

We can do things like taking the clothes that we don’t wear anymore to local collection bins; dropping off food at the Food Bank or in the food collection bins at the grocery store; or donating money to a charity that helps support people needing food and shelter. Maybe we can do a school fundraiser for the poor?

Saint Mother Teresa said

We cannot all do great things. But we can do small things with GREAT love.

Yesterday was Louis Riel Day. In Saskatchewan, Louis Riel Day is a day to honour Louis Riel's sacrifice, to defend the rights of Métis people and to honour Métis heritage, history and contributions.

Let us pray:

Lord, may we be inspired by the efforts of Louis Riel.

Our world needs brave people like Louis Riel who stand up for the rights of all people. May we do our part to continue the great works of Louis Riel in speaking out for the rights of children, healthcare and education for all people in our world.

Almighty God, we also pray for the poor, the hungry, the homeless, the sick, and all those who have no one to care for them. May the cries of the poor open our hearts so we do whatever we can to share what we have with all those in need.

In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. AMEN
